Take inspiration from your surroundings
Talented designer Charlotte Balbier put Iscoyd Park fashion on the map when she dedicated an entire wedding dress collection to our country house venue in Shropshire following her wedding here in 2013. Her collection – including the two gowns she herself wore at Iscoyd – was lovingly based around traditional themes with a modern twist and included lace up backs, concealed bodices, pale gold and pretty pink hues. The designs are perfectly symbolic of our own approach to offering contemporary weddings in a classical setting; so our top tip to take from Charlotte? Don’t be afraid to take inspiration directly from your surroundings when planning your big day.
If you’re getting married in the summer months then you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to flowers: peonies, lavender, hydrangeas, daisies, sweet peas, roses – they’re all popular choices for any bride. The theme for summer flowers tends to be the bigger the better. Big flower heads in your bouquet and big scents around the venue, from centrepieces to wedding wreaths (yes, wreaths aren’t just for the winter!). If you’re looking for something a little more unassuming then why not opt for an all-white flower theme? Check out this blog from Rock My Wedding’s Lolly for lots more floral inspiration.
Use the outdoors
One of the most exciting aspects of organising a summer wedding is planning how you will make the most of the outdoor space available. From garden games and beautiful portrait shots to outdoor music and giant picnics, we’ve seen it all at Iscoyd. One new trend we’re seeing at weddings now is outdoor food trucks instead of indoor sit down meals. Get more inspiration for using the outdoor space on your wedding day.
Go to an open day
When visiting wedding venues it can be difficult to picture what they will really be like on your big day. At Iscoyd Park we hold regular open day events so that couples can see our venue when it’s at its best and get the opportunity to meet all our trusted suppliers in one day. These events can also have added benefits too: at our Easter egg hunt each egg found by a couple represented a different prize for them to enjoy on their wedding day at Iscoyd, from champagne to a special wedding breakfast.
